How far it goes

A cigarette takes about half a gram, so 100g makes about 200 and a 500g bag makes about 1,000. With filter tubes at £4 for 500, a 500g bag works out at around 20p a cigarette.

New to making your own?

The starter kit has a filling machine, 100 tubes and 25g of tobacco for £21.99, and you can choose Virginia Special as the tobacco. Already have a machine? You only need the tobacco and the tubes.
