Make-Your-Own Cigarette Starter Kit

Everything you need to make your own cigarettes at home: a tube-filling machine, 100 empty filter tubes and 25g of Kendal tobacco in the strength you choose. No rolling to learn. The machine fills a tube in a few seconds.

The 25g in the kit makes about 50 cigarettes, at roughly half a gram each.

What's in the kit

• 25g of Kendal tobacco: you pick the blend above

How it works

1. Load a pinch of tobacco into the machine.
2. Slide an empty tube onto the end.
3. Close the machine and slide the handle. The tobacco is pressed into the tube and it's ready.

What it costs after the kit

Once you have the machine, you only buy tobacco and tubes. 50g of Kendal Gold (£24.99) and a box of 100 tubes (£1) make about 100 cigarettes: around 26p each. Buy the tobacco in bigger bags and it comes down further.

Which tobacco?

• Kendal Gold: light, golden Virginia. The easy place to start.
• Kendal Mixed: medium strength.
• Kendal Dark: full strength, with fire-cured leaf.
• Kendal Gold Black Cherry, Vanilla, Cherry & Vanilla or Coconut: the light Gold blend with a flavour.

• Tubes: a box of 100 for £1, or 500 for £4.
• Tobacco: Kendal Gold, Kendal Mixed and Kendal Dark, sold loose from 25g or 50g up to 500g.
• A spare machine: £5.99 on its own.
