New World Puro Especial joined the New World family in 2017. AJ Fernandez and his father, Ismael, blended it from tobacco grown on AJ's farms in the Estelí region. It is a Nicaraguan puro made at his Estelí factory, with a Nicaraguan habano wrapper and binder and Nicaraguan filler. AJ has said that tobacco from his San Diego farm gives it a mineral character.
Tor Imports describes it as balanced, with nutty notes and a sweet finish. It reports a Cigar Journal score of 91 and a No.11 place in Cigar Journal's 2017 list.
