Nub

Nub is Oliva's concept cigar, made in Estelí, Nicaragua, and launched in the UK in 2009. Instead of a long cigar, Nub pairs a short length with a very wide ring gauge, with the aim of reaching a cigar's "sweet spot" from the first draw and holding it there. The best-known size is the 460, 4 inches long with a 60 ring gauge.

There are four blends, each over Nicaraguan binder and filler, and the wrapper is the easiest way to choose. Connecticut is the lightest, mild to medium and creamy; Cameroon is medium, with cedar and coffee; Sun Grown (SG) and the Brazilian-wrapped Maduro are full. Then pick a size, from the 358 to the 464 torpedo and 466, tubes for carrying, or a sampler to try all four.
