Casa Carrillo
Casa Carrillo is the family company of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, who founded E.P. Carrillo with his daughter and son, and most of its cigars are rolled at the family factory in the Dominican Republic. Several blends have ranked highly in Cigar Aficionado's annual Top 25: the La Historia E-III was No. 2 in 2014, the Encore Majestic No. 1 in 2018 and the Pledge Prequel No. 1 in 2020. Allegiance, made with the Oliva family in Nicaragua, was No. 5 in 2023.
Strength varies widely, so start there. New Wave Connecticut is mild to medium and the Cameroon-wrapped Endure medium; La Historia (Mexican San Andrés wrapper), the all-Nicaraguan Encore and Allegiance are medium to full; and the box-pressed Pledge is full. The Triumph gift pack puts the Prequel, Majestic and E-III side by side.
