J.C. Newman named Brick House after his childhood home, the only brick house in his Hungarian village. The original was a Cuban puro that ended with the Great Depression; more than 80 years later his grandsons Eric and Bobby Newman relaunched it with Nicaraguan tobacco, made at the PENSA factory.

The Double Connecticut combines the Brick House filler blend with a genuine Connecticut Shade wrapper and a genuine Connecticut Broadleaf binder. Tabac World describes it as spicy and peppery, unlike the regular Brick House.
