Montecristo 80th Aniversario Cigar - Box of 20
Length: 6 1/2"
Ring Gauge: 55
Packaging: Box of 20 cigars
In 1935, a cigar brand was born in Havana. It was named after a famous novel which was a particular favourite with the Torcedors (cigar rollers) who enjoyed being read to by the Lector whilst they hand crafted their masterpieces. The book was "The Count of Montecristo" and the brand of course became Montecristo.
Today, Montecristo is the best selling and most well known premium cigar brand in the world and last year celebrated its 80th Anniversary. To mark the occasion, a commemorative cigar was unveiled aptly named the "80 Aniversario" but unforeseen circumstances delayed its launch. However, this much anticipated cigar has now arrived much to the delight of the many Montecristo enthusiasts around the world. It is an entirely new size within the Habanos portfolio (6 ½” (165mm) x 55 ring gauge) and is presented in commemorative boxes of 20 cigars. The cigars are also dressed with a second band and limited production will ensure that these cigars will be extremely sought after.
Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012 Cigar - Box of 20
Length: 4 7/8
Ring Gauge: 50
Packaging: Box of 20 cigars
The Reserva Series features different packaging and a black and silver band . This differenciates the cigars from there standard release as they only use tobaccos that have been aged a minimum of three years, with this particular release using tobaccos from 2012.
Another difference from the standard release Epicure No. 2's is that the Hoyo and Epicure bands have been combined in to 1 band, rather than 2 separate bands. I imagine this is so that the cigar isn't "triple banded" as that could be a bit odd.
The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Reserva Coscheca was announced at the 2016 Festival del Habano and has had cigar aficionados eagerly waiting for the official release. If you are able to stock up on these now, it would be a good idea as they won't last long.
Cohiba Talisman Cigar (Limited Edition 2017) - Box of 10
Length: 6 1/8"
Ring Gauge: 54
Strength: Medium - Full
Packaging: Box of 10
The Talismán is one of the most eagerly anticipated cigar releases for many years and joins a group of iconic Cohiba vitolas that have been launched within the Habanos Limited Edition concept. This includes previous releases such as the Cohiba Sublimes (2004), Cohiba 1966 (2011) and the most recent Cohiba Supremos (2014). The Talismán is destined to become a firm favorite and will soon sit proudly in the Cohiba Limited Edition hall of fame.
Measuring an impressive 6 1/8“ (154 mm) x 54 ring gauge, these stunning cigars are presented in 10s in the traditional Cohiba style of varnished slide lid boxes (SLB). The blend matches the flavour profile of Cohiba’s La Línea Clasica range (medium to full) with the head of each cigar finished with a “pigtail” found on La Línea Behike.
All the tobaccos used in a Limited Edition cigar are aged for at least two years. However, in addition to this the Secoand Ligero leaf in Cohiba cigars undergo an ‘extra fermentation’. This may last as long as eighteen months and is conducted at the factory in cedar barrels. Cohibas are the only Cuban cigars to undergo this process and it provides all of their cigars with a unique smoothness. The Maduro wrapper leaf that has been used to dress this cigar provides just a touch of sweetness that plays across the top of the palate.
