Casa Turrent

Casa Turrent cigars are made in Mexico by the Turrent family's Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos, the country's largest grower of cigar tobacco and best known for San Andrés leaf from the valley near Veracruz. The 1880 series is blended from single-harvest tobacco aged for over a decade, while Serie 1901 is named for the birth year of Alejandro Turrent's grandfather; its Maduro Robusto was No. 12 in Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 for 2016. Origenes, made for the company's 140th anniversary, offers four blends in a single 5½ x 54 size.

To choose, look at the wrapper and strength. Macarena and the 1880 Rosado are medium, the 1942 and 1973 medium to full, and the near-black Negro San Andrés maduro of the 1880 Maduro gives the fullest cigar in the range.
